The Vibrant City of Canterbury
Canterbury is populated with a mixture of luxury hotels and fine restaurants and its retail sector is the hub of East Kent, hosting both high street names and many independent retailers. This modern and vibrant city is steeped in great tradition with stunning sites and world famous visitor attractions.
Palace Street is close to the High Street and is part of The King’s Mile, named after the area’s links with King’s School and royalty. The current palace is built on Archbishop Lanfranc’s palace, mentioned in The Domesday Book and a wall and gateway of the original Palace still remains in Palace Street through which Archbishops and crowned heads of England including Henry VIII and Elizabeth I may have passed.
The modern King’s Mile with its special signing, offers a huge variety of independent retail businesses and restaurants of all flavours.
